Lesson 02

Your First 30 Days

2-Jun-22-2026-05-43-51-4341-PM

Overview

Know exactly what to expect during onboarding and what you should be doing in your first 4 weeks.

Transcript

Before you log in for the first time, here's the most important thing I tell every new customer. Don't make any big marketing decisions in your first 30 days.

We start collecting data the moment our tag goes live on your site. Before that, nothing. So when you log in on day three, or day seven, or even day fourteen, you're really just looking at a sliver. And that sliver will tell you things that aren't true yet. So please, don't go change your whole paid search strategy off two weeks of data.

Here's roughly how the first month is going to feel.

Week one is orientation. Your tag is live, data is starting to come in, and you're poking around to see where things live. Don't act on anything yet. Just watch.

Weeks two and three, the picture starts to fill in. You'll start to see who's actually visiting, which sources are bringing them, and whether they look like the buyers you're trying to reach.

By week four, you're ready to bring questions to your first strategy call. I'll come to that call with observations, not just a dashboard.

Beyond that, the longer arc looks like this. 30 days is when you can start looking for trends. 60 days is better. 90 days is where you can really pull threads.

So what should you actually do this month?

Get in there and get your hands dirty. Click into every tab. Get a feel for where things live. Slice and dice the data. Notice which views are useful and which ones aren't. We built this around you, and the only way you'll know what's really useful is to play with it.

If something surprises you, write it down. Don't act on it yet. You're collecting questions, not answers.

One more thing. If you've never had access to data like this before, if you've been at the mercy of someone else's report for years, it's normal to feel a little overwhelmed at first.

We hear that a lot. That's not you being slow. That's you finally having the tools you should have had all along.

We're going to be talking to you a lot this first month. Ask all the questions.

Next up, we'll get into how Whengine actually identifies who's on your site.
